I couldn’t be bothered with video games. Then one Christmas my daughter asked for The Sims 2. She hated building the houses and asked me to do it. Next thing you know she’s giving up altogether and guess who’s hooked? And so I built…. and built, and built.
For almost 20 years I made a living as a sign maker, graphic designer and decorative painter. A few years prior to getting unwittingly involved in sim building I made a career change due to a long term feeling of creative burn-out. It was at this time that I went on-line to feed my growing sim building fetish. The things I saw when I started searching around the fan sites were just mind blowing to me. Connecting with others, asking questions, and sharing your builds for others to download… now I was hopelessly hooked and also creatively brought back from the dead. That was late 2008.
I was invited to be a Select Artists at The Sims Resource in July 2009 and then a Featured Artist in August 2010 where I flew under the name of Gissence as a builder. My building forte lies in the often times extreme use of the CFE cheat. I’ve also added to my collective CAW building, tomb building and making video trailers and have been caught a couple of times fiddling around with non-repetitious patterns.
For me it all started when I was somewhere around my thirties... Mind you, that was all late 1980's! long before the Internet, long before Windows and long before CD-Rom's. The time when you had to manually install your adventure game with a program called DOS... and floppy discs. The days that a PC could store an amazing 186kb... but I loved it, and the games available in those days. It is 25 years later now, and I am still hooked.
I have a college degree in Architectural - and Interior design from the Academy of Arts Maastricht, The Netherlands. I graduated in 1984. I also love to paint and draw and have taken a liking to photography. I believe that decorating my Sims houses and mixing and matching styles, or creating a 'scene' is my forte for this addictive simulation game. I like playing with funky roof differentiations and will recolor almost anything I can... No, I won't give up until it all looks right to me. Thank heavens for the undo option, I need some of those in real life!
Having been all over the world as a flight attendant working for KLM has brought me an immense amount of fond memories and a wonderful array of ideas for my Sims world. I love to create stories and see my Sims come to life in them. In February 2010 I was asked to be a Select Artist for The Sims Resource, and a little less than two years later in November 2011 to be a Featured Artist. I'm also known as Fredbrenny on TSR. I like to build lots that are different. Lots that will raise an eyebrow and catch people's attention. To think outside the box and to boldly go where no one has gone before, is what I love doing best.
A fabulously creative writer with some real talents in the technical realm to boot. We are both very glad to have her in the mix.
Another great story writer, Margo is also a behind-the-scenes file organizing, data collecting machine. Without her organizing fingers in the pot on the Fratres project it would have gotten all gummed up more than once.
